FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers for homeowners and contractors. Search all questions, or choose who you are.

Can I buy 4K Aluminum products directly?

No. 4K Aluminum sells only to authorized, properly licensed contractors, not to the general public.

How do I find an authorized 4K Aluminum contractor near me?

Call our team or use our Find a Contractor page, and we'll connect you with an authorized 4K Aluminum contractor in your area.

How much does a 4K Aluminum patio cover or pergola cost?

Every project is different. Cost depends on the size, design complexity, product, and options you choose. For an accurate quote, we'll connect you with one of our certified contractors.

How long does installation take?

Timelines vary based on project size, design, permitting, and site conditions. Your contractor will give you a schedule for your specific project.

Do I need a permit, and who handles it?

In most cases, yes. A permit and site-specific engineering are typically required. Your 4K Aluminum contractor handles the permitting process.

Will a 4K Aluminum structure hold up to wind, snow, and extreme heat?

Yes. 4K Aluminum structures are built from extruded aluminum and designed to meet local wind and snow load requirements, with site-specific engineering confirming the design for your location. Our powder coat finish is backed by a 20-year warranty against flaking and fading in 4K Aluminum standard colors.

What's the difference between your pergola, louver, cantilever, and 4K Roof System options?
  • The 4K Roof System is a solid aluminum roof for 4K Aluminum patio covers and cantilevers, available in two interlocking panel lines, VEER™ and Twin Wall. Both are ASTM certified as Class A and span up to 10 ft without center support.
  • Pergola Systems use posts and support beams with your choice of an open lattice, decorative Soleil™ panels, or a solid roof.
  • ATLAS Louver has adjustable louvers you open and close at the push of a button, giving you complete control over shade and sun.
  • Cantilever Pergolas extend beyond their posts, with beams anchored at one end and no support at the other, for a sleek, open, contemporary look.

Can I add lighting, fans, privacy walls, or solar panels?

Yes, many options are available:

  • Lighting: the 4K LED System adds color-changing LED lighting in the beams, run by remote, with a separate zone for each controller.
  • Fans: ceiling fans are commonly installed using the structure's support beams. 4K Aluminum doesn't supply fans.
  • Privacy walls: our Architectural Features line includes privacy walls, trellises, awnings, and more.
  • Solar: 4K Aluminum structures are engineered to support solar panels. 4K Aluminum doesn't supply or install the panels; installation must be coordinated with a licensed solar contractor, while the structure itself must be installed by an authorized 4K Aluminum contractor. Additional engineering may be required for solar loads, and project engineering has the final say.
What does the warranty cover, and how do I register it?

4K Aluminum's extruded aluminum products and panels are warranted for 20 years against material defects, in every 4K Aluminum system. The powder coat finish is warranted for 20 years against flaking and fading in 4K Aluminum standard colors, and Wood Sublimation finishes for 10 years; custom colors are not covered by the finish warranty. Other components have their own coverage, such as 2 years for ATLAS Louver components (pins, pivot bars, slotted bars, batteries, motors and control box) and 1 year for LED light strips, and exceptions apply. Warranties must be registered online within 90 days of installation using the original 4K Aluminum invoice number issued to your contractor, so ask your contractor for it. See our Warranty Information page for full details.

How do I clean and maintain my structure?

4K Aluminum's powder-coated aluminum needs very little maintenance. Rinse with a garden hose, wash gently with warm water and a mild detergent using a soft sponge or microfiber cloth, then rinse and dry. Never use a pressure washer or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the finish. Proper care is also a condition of your warranty. See our Care & Maintenance page for the full guide.
